Alex has been involved in hockey as a player, coach, scout, skills specialist, video coordinator, and personal mentor since 1985. He was raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan which is a sister city of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario His competitive hockey began when he played on the varsity high school team as a freshman. He then played two years of AAA U18 before starting his Junior A career as an underage forward for the Soo Indians in the NAHL. He continued his Junior A career playing for the Des Moines Buccaneers in the USHL, then the Compuware Ambassadors, where he signed his National Letter of Intent to play college hockey for Northern Michigan University. He played four years for the Wildcats before joining the coaching staff as a graduate assistant in 2004. Alex played in the ECHL during the 2004-2005 season for the Gwinnett Gladiators and the Louisiana Ice Gators. He graduated from Northern Michigan with a degree in Construction Management and a minor in architectural detailing.
Alex has provided extensive one-on-one individual video and skill training since 2011. He was the head coach of the Soo Eagles in the NAHL during the 2014 – 2015 season before the team moved to New Jersey and became the Titans organization in the NAHL. Alex was an assistant coach for the eagles from 2016-2018 while the team competed in the NOJHL. He has helped numerous players navigate their roads to the USHL, NAHL, and NCAA Division 1 and 3 hockey teams.
Alex currently resides in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, where he helps with all of the amateur travel teams. His experience as a head coach, project manager for large commercial construction projects, and owner of a AAA insurance agency, has given him the unique skills of leadership, communication, and discipline, which will help his players grow, succeed, and achieve their next highest goals. Alex looks forward to using his knowledge and experience to guide young players to reach their maximum potential.
