Doc Delcastillo

Coach Doc Delcastillo’s experience at higher levels, including NCAA Division I and III, USHL, NAHL and now tier-3 juniors, and the NHL will add value and insight that players seek for opportunities to advance.

DelCastillo played high school hockey at Hill-Murray and four seasons at St. Cloud State, where he received his bachelors’ degree. Later, he earned his master’s in sports management at SCSU. In his senior season, he was one of the Huskies’ team captains.

Upon graduating, he worked as an assistant coach in the United States Hockey League. In 1994, he began a three-year stint as the head coach at Rochester, where he posted a 71-62-2 record.  He returned to the college ranks for four seasons as an assistant at his alma mater St Cloud State and spent five seasons in University of Nebraska-Omaha before heading west to become the head coach of the Alaska Nanooks in the CCHA. After one season, he came back to his home state with the Alexandria Blizzard in the NAHL, where he posted a 103-56-17 regular season record, including the franchise’s first-ever Central Division title in 2010-11.

Delcastillo then coached Hamline University from 2012-2014.

Delcastillo also coached in the EHL and the NAHL3 from the years of 2015-2018.

He also had to the opportunity to work as a developmental coach with the San Jose Sharks and the Los Angeles Kings in the National Hockey League.

He has a master level certification with USA Hockey and has worked with developmental camps and international completion with national teams.

Delcastillo has been involved with the development and promotions of many players and coaches at the elite levels of the game of hockey.
