Jacob Klancher comes to the Hudson Campus from his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA. A skill development professional since the age of 18, Klancher played his youth hockey for both the Pittsburgh Hornets AAA and Pittsburgh Junior Penguins AAA organizations.
From 2006-2008, Klancher was a two-time team captain and Eastern Junior Hockey League All-Star playing for Jim Salfi’s Capital District Selects. He was named Hockey Night In Boston’s Best Pro Prospect in 2007. He earned a B.A. in Economics in 2012 and played his collegiate hockey for two-time Spencer Penrose National Coach of the Year winner Joe Marsh at St. Lawrence University, where he was twice selected to the ECAC All- Academic Team and was an ECAC Championship participant in 2008-09 and 2009-10.
Post-competitive playing career, Klancher has served as Head of Player Development for the South Hills Amateur Hockey Association in Pittsburgh, PA. In 2016-17, Jake joined the Idaho Jr. Steelheads of the WSHL where he served as Assistant General Manager, Director of Recruiting and Associate Head Coach. He successfully recruited players from 8 different countries and helped the Jr. Steelheads to an impressive 43-5-4 team record and an AAU/ UHU National Championship appearance. Klancher has also scouted a variety of different levels including Tier I AAA, New England Prep, USHL, NAHL, OHL, BCHL, OJHL, NCDC, NCAA DI-III, and ACHA DI-III.
