Jim Vickers

Jim Vickers brings a wealth of playing and leadership experience from junior, NCAA Division I, and professional hockey to the MAP team.

Jim began his career with the Aurora Tigers, where he was a standout defenseman in both the Metro Jr. Hockey League and OPJHL. He went on to play NCAA Division I hockey at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on a full scholarship from 1998–2002, where he developed into a reliable two-way defenseman and key contributor on the blue line.  He graduated with a 3.25 GPA and earned his BS (Bachelor of Science) and his Major was Management.

Following college, Jim played professionally in the ECHL with the Jackson Bandits, Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies, Baton Rouge Kingfish, Charlotte Checkers, and Louisiana IceGators. He logged over 130 ECHL games, including playoff runs that showcased his grit and defensive reliability.

Jim then took his career overseas, joining the EIHL in the United Kingdom. He skated with the London Racers before finishing his career as captain of the Edinburgh Capitals, where he was recognized for his leadership and steady play.

His father Steve played 10 seasons with the New York Rangers and was the Calder Memorial recipient for Rookie of the Year in 1973.

He is married to his wife Kristina and they have two children, Stephen and Gabriella.
