John Bazzachini

Buzz is in his second year as a lead instructor at the Blaine North Campus. The Hibbing native is a veteran coach with experience guiding young players at all levels of amateur hockey including both boys and girls.  Prior to joining MAP/FHIT in March of 2023, Buzz coached two seasons as an assistant for the University of St. Thomas Men’s program. Before his brief stint at UST, he was the Head Women’s Coach at St. Olaf College for fourteen seasons. During his tenure with the Oles, Buzz led them to six trips to the MIAC playoffs.  In 2006-07, he was selected as the MIAC Coach of the Year.  Prior to coaching the women at St. Olaf, he coached boy’s high school hockey for seventeen years (Irondale, Totino Grace,  and Hopkins) and spent one season as an assistant Men’s coach at Hamline University.  As a high school athlete, Buzz earned three Varsity letters in. hockey and five in baseball. Upon graduation, Buzz played two years of Division I hockey at the Air Force Academy and two years at St. John’s University.  He was a senior Captain for the Johnnies, a two time leading scorer, and was selected to the MIAC All-Conference Team twice.  Buzz  brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to training young athletes as he has also worked  USA hockey camps and ran his own training program (Buzzhockey) for 37 years.
