Matt was born in Southern California. As a child, Matt played for the California Wave AAA hockey team. Matt decided to pursue hockey in the USHL and played two seasons with the Fargo Force (Fargo, ND). He was selected for the USHL All-Star game during the 2009-2010 season.
Matt decided to continue his hockey career at Minnesota State University, Mankato. He played four seasons with the Mavericks earning himself notable awards that include: First Team All-American (2014/2015), he also continues to rank 2nd in school history with 162 career points and 1st of all-time assists.
Following graduation, Matt spent three years playing professional hockey. He spent time between the American Hockey League (AHL) and the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). While playing in the ECHL, Matt recorded 139 points in 150 games. He earned call-ups to the AHL in each of his professional seasons.
He is thrilled to be working at MAP and bring his years of hockey knowledge and wisdom to the program. Matt has had a first-hand look at what it takes to play the game at the highest level.
