Sam was born and raised in New Hope, MN, where he developed his passion for hockey in the Armstrong Youth Hockey Association. He attended Robbinsdale Armstrong High School in Plymouth, MN, playing three years of high school hockey for the Falcons and earning the honor of team captain in his senior year.
After high school, Sam played two seasons in the MNJHL for the Maple Grove Energy, serving as an alternate captain in his second season. Following his junior hockey career, Sam transitioned to coaching, bringing his experience and passion to the youth level.
For the past seven years, Sam has served as head coach of the Armstrong Cooper Wings Bantam A team. Under his leadership, the team has secured multiple Minnesota Hockey District and Regional championships and made two State tournament appearances, including the association’s inaugural Bantam A state tournament berth in 2022.
In addition to his association coaching duties, Sam is actively involved with Minnesota Hockey’s High Performance and Tier 1 programs during the Spring and Fall seasons. Giving him the opportunity to assess and mentor a wide range of athletes across the state of Minnesota.
Sam is excited to join a talented group of staff members and is eager to both share and expand his hockey knowledge with others.
